Black Flying Fox
(pteropus alecto)
Northern New South Wales is as far north as the Black Flying Fox's territory extends. It also follows the coast all the way around the top half of Australia, Western Australia and half way down the coastline to Geraldton.
As the name suggests it's colour is a flat black with no other colourings. Noticeably smaller than the Grey Headed Flying Fox, it shares many of its habits and characteristics, but covers a much larger range.
