Tour Diary - May 2008
First ever sighting of a green Richmond Birdwing Butterfly. Platypus has been very reliable 16 trips for 15 sightings including 4 occassions of 2 in the same pond. Also spotted was a Long Nosed Bandicoot, Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos & an Australian Bittern (heavily built stork).
We found a Red Bellied Black Snake on the road near Whiptail Wallabies, Common Brushtail & Mountain Brushtail Possum in the same tree near Platypus creek which again had 2 Platypuses out at the same time, but no contact with each other. Northern Brown Bandicoot hopping along the road when leaving Platypus creek.
We saw a huge Echidna waddling down the road near Whiptails on a rainy day. Red Necked Pademelons have joey's. We have had consistant rain & the Platypus creek is flooded.
We saw a baby bump in mother Koala's pouch & also heard a male Koala bellowing. We also witnessed 2 pairs of Wedge Tailed Eagles in a territorial dispute.
